NRG Energy Center Pittsburgh is comprised of the North Shore Plant, which includes two interconnected steam and chilled-water plants and serves customers in an area anchored by the Carnegie Science Center, PNC Park and Allegheny General Hospital.
Impyrian provided Quality Assurance, Subject Matter expertise, Project Engineering, Construction Management and Operations and Maintenance consulting for the NRG Northside and Uptown Energy Center in Pittsburg, PA. NRG Energy Center Pittsburgh is comprised of the North Shore Plant, which includes two interconnected steam and chilled-water plants and serves customers in an area anchored by the Carnegie Science Center, PNC Park and Allegheny General Hospital. Total capacity: 240 Mlbs/hr steam; 12,580 tons of chilled water. Impyrian is currently working with NRG to review technical documentation associated with the Northside facility, such as P&IDs, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Manuals for Chillers, Boilers, and other major equipment to provide subject matter expertise in the operations and maintenance of the facility. The NRG Uptown Plant groundbreaking took place in March, 2017 and is located east of downtown/Golden Triangle in emerging Lower Hill district. The target date to begin service is 1Q 2018 with UPMC Mercy Hospital as the initial anchor customer. Impyrian is assisting in project engineering, project and construction management as well as providing subject matter expertise in designing and implementing the emergency power system for the Hospital. Initial capacity: 150 Mlbs/hr steam; 8,250 tons chilled water; 7.5 MW emergency power.
